Everyone wants to succeed. The problem is that most people don't know where to start. The perfect step to start with is by putting your "student" hat on. Allowing yourself to be teachable will enable you to absorb the correct information, enhance your social skills and know where not to step. It is always evident when someone wants to do things their way regardless of what a successful experienced person will suggest, making the outcome unpleasant.

It feels uncomfortable to do what another person suggests for you and your business, but to reach success, one must forget the word "comfortable" ever existed. People get way too comfortable on doing things their way, failing and then looking for something or someone to blame. Darren Hardy teaches us that we are responsible for 100% of the things that happen in our business and we should take full responsibility of the outcome. By now you know that feeling uncomfortable brings different results and if you want different results, stop doing the same things and "get with it" by doing things that make you a little uncomfortable. In time, that which was uncomfortable will become normal and profitable.

It is ok to mix your style of doing things once you know the path of how others have made it happen. It is similar to experiencing the attitude, responsibility and ethics of working for someone first and becoming your own boss later. It builds character. It builds leadership.

One way to jump on the wagon of success and become a good student is to pick an accountability partner to run with and to keep up with. This will instantly let you know if you have what it takes. If you cannot keep up with the daily activities of a successful person, you'll know how much more you need to give, or if you need to go back to being average. The best person to run with is one with success. Do not pick someone with less desire than you, or someone that seems to have lots of ideas but no results. Partnering to run with a creative person helps, but someone with experience and results is better for you. Your accountability partner can be your mentor. Keep up with a successful mentor to see what you're made of. Soon enough someone will pick you as their mentor and you'll have to set the pace. Many of your friends won't join you on your journey and their reason for that will be "they are afraid to disappoint you". But they never looked at it as an opportunity for themselves, just as a way to impress you. Sad! Reach out your hand to help someone with passion that's ready to take action. I have 3 mentors. I love running with my mentor Mike Dobson because he is hard to keep up with and I challenge myself to surpass his tenacity. I also run everyday with my friend Jason Vega and my business partner Kim Venegas. We set daily goals for ourselves and we check up on each other to make sure we are producing. We want it big. Do you?

The day will come when you will surpass the tenacity of your mentor or your accountability partner and you will become a beast. But the beast never stops. Talk to any successful millionaire and you will see that there is never a "finish line". There is always the urgency, always more to be done and once you've reached your goal, set the next one to find greatness.

Darien Hill
For those who know me, you know that I've been involved with what we consider "social media" practically since it started. I like considering myself an expert, but I always keep my student hat on to learn something new, or learn something new from someone. The other day I met with my new friend Darien Hill, business owner of SocialMediaHitmen. I can easily say I've been schooled by Darien and I was impressed by his skills and knowledge in just 30 minutes of speaking with him. Darien is also a speaker, big into personal development and has the boiling blood of a successful entrepreneur. Since Social Media could be tough for some to understand, he provides detailed explanations and ways of tracking progress and results. Ask him about his "potato chip" theory. Mind blowing!

Sometimes you identify with people and you want to have them as your accountability partner, your mentor or someone to run with you towards reaching success. Always keep your student hat on your journey. See what you are made of, by picking a mentor/partner and keeping up.
